Safety Attire

After signing up for one of our classes, you will receive a confirmation letter explaining what you must wear to the class to be able to ride, and to complete the class. The safety equipment and attire is mandated by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation and the Missouri Motorcycle Safety Program, and supported by all the instructional staff at Rolling Wheels Training Center.

The minimum required equipment and clothing the student MUST bring to class is:

bulletLong pants, preferably jeans
bulletLong sleeved shirt or jacket
bulletFull fingered gloves (cannot have the fingers cut short).
bulletSturdy, over the ankle footwear. Shoes with a cutout that exposes the ankle bone are not acceptable. Footwear needs to have a rubber or synthetic sole that provides a good grip with the asphalt surface of the range. Extremely thick soles and high heels are not appropriate, and will interfere with the rider's ability to shift and brake properly.
bulletEye protection (goggles or shatter-proof glasses). You may also use a face shield attached to a helmet. If your class times include after-dark hours you will need clear eye protection.
bulletHelmet - if you own one, you will probably be more comfortable with your own helmet. Helmets must be DOT approved. Novelty helmets with fake DOT stickers are not allowed. We do have loaner helmets available.
bulletRain suit - this is the only optional equipment on the list. However, we do ride when it rains. You are responsible for deciding if you will stay dry or get wet.

Students must remember that proper safety attire is mandatory. The instructors are the final authority as to whether the attire conforms to the requirements.
